Pisco, is one of the easiest peaks to climb and also the most beautiful mountain in the Cordillera Blanca for its strategic location that allows a spectacular 360-degree view. It is surrounded by impressive peaks of 5 and 6 thousand meters and was popularized for the first time on July 12, 1951.

Note:

  • In our itinerary we can calculate one more day to take a break, for any emergency such as weather, a health problem or to climb the snowy Quitaraju.

  • We recommend 3 to 4 days of acclimatization. This will allow you to fully Discover and Enjoy Alpamayo!

Itinerary:

We start from Huaraz and head to this beautiful adventure passing through Yungay new and old. Yungay was buried by an avalanche from the Huascaran snowfall in 1970. After registering at the Huascaran National Park office we will enter one of the beautiful valleys of the Cordillera Blanca “Llanganuco” formed by immense snow-capped mountains and surrounded by a river of crystalline waters that comes from two beautiful lagoons called Chinancocha and Oroconcocha you can view the snow-capped mountains that surround the valley. Our expedition begins next to the second lagoon where we will meet as always with our muleteer and his donkeys to start a slow ascent on a well-marked path to the base camp of snowy Pisco.

Walking time: 3 to 4 hours approximately.

Approximate difference in altitude: 750 m ascent.

We will spend the night in one of the most beautiful camps in the Cordillera Blanca, surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and facing the Demanda Valley. At 1:00 a.m. we will start our expedition, crossing, with great care and under the watchful eye of our guide, to the moraine, the pass and some crevasses and finally arriving at the heart of the Cordillera Blanca and the Huascaran Balcony.

It will be very difficult to convince you to go down and leave that wonderful 360-degree view of many spectacular and enormous mountains such as Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Huandoy, Artesonraju, Piramide and even Alpamayo itself.

We will descend the same route to base camp to regain strength and energy.

Walking and climbing time: 10 to 11 hours approximately.

Approximate difference in altitude: 1102 m up and 1102 m down.

After this incomparable experience today, we will descend where we have two possible options, the first one is to go directly to Yuracorral or visit one of the most popular lagoons of the Cordillera Blanca “Laguna 69”, both routes will take us to Yuracorral where our driver will be waiting ready to drive us to Huaraz.

Walking time: 5 to 6 hours at Laguna 69 and 3 to 4 hours direct to Hydrocoral.

Approximate difference in altitude: 750 m of descent.
