Ishinca with its 5530m, is a perfect snowy mountain for people with or without experience. It is located in the Ishinca Gorge in the Huaraz district and province, always within the Hascaran National Park and in the northern Andes of Peru.

Note:

  • In our itinerary we can calculate one more day to take a break, for any emergency such as weather, a health problem or to climb the snowy Quitaraju.

  • We recommend 3 to 4 days of acclimatization. This will allow you to fully Discover and Enjoy Alpamayo!

Itinerary:

We start from Huaraz towards the town of Collón, where we will start walking, enjoying the agriculture and livestock that people in that area tend to. After a few hours, we will enter the beautiful valley of “Ishinca” full of wild animal life and a varied flora, then we will arrive at the camp located in the heart of the valley and adorned by spectacular mountains.

Walking time: 5 to 6 hours.

Approximate difference in altitude: 950 m ascent.

The previous afternoon, under the instruction of our Guide, all our equipment was prepared and a basic climbing course was provided. because today our adventure begins between 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. We will climb a well-marked path and then after a few hours we will pass the moraine field where there is a small refuge.  We will then reach the glacier where our ascent to the Ishinca Summit begins next to the majestic Ranrapalca. In a few more hours we will reach the summit, with one of the most beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. After taking many photos and allowing our eyes and hearts to delight in that unique beauty we will return to base camp, where our cook will be waiting with a delicious hot meal.

Walking and climbing time: 9 to 10 hours.

Approximate difference in altitude: 1230 m ascent.

After this adventure and having regained our strength, we start our walk, on an easy path surrounded by vegetation and mountain ranges to a small lagoon called Cochapampa, where we will take transport to return to Huaraz.

Walking time: 4 to 5 hours approximately.

Approximate difference in altitude: 650 m of descent.
